What to expect at Chang-san Air Base
Chang-san is one of the two Extreme-threat areas named in the official guide. The surface base is already Critical: concrete perimeter walls, watchtowers, a jet runway, helipad, hospital, barracks, supply depots and an ornate command building. Cliffs line the eastern perimeter, and the official recon notes say teams have got in from the raised woodland to the south.
Under the southern hillside are large bunker doors leading into a tunnel system that Activision describes as bigger than the base above it. That bunker is the Extreme zone. West of the base is wilderness with hidden missile bunkers, a toxic containment pool, small hamlets and supply depots.
The Lieutenant Bale, a Spetsnaz veteran who trains and enforces for the North Korean forces, is shown waiting here in the official "Not Without Him" story. If you are hunting him, plan for his escort of elite troops before you reach the gate.
Chang-san Air Base tips
- Come in from the wooded high ground to the south, not the eastern cliffs.
- The bunker is Extreme threat: go in with a full squad and a plan to break contact.
- Lieutenant Bale is linked to this base in the official story; see the bosses page.
