MW4 DMZ Bosses: Lieutenants and Commanders
MW4 DMZ bosses come in two tiers. Lieutenants hold territory, can be tracked with intel and drop a Dog Tag Case and sometimes a key. Commanders roam the whole map, shrug off many standard weapons and drop prized 3D Printer ingredients.
How Lieutenant hunts work
- Lieutenants can be active whether you are hunting them or not, so check their known territory as you pass.
- Buy intel on a Lieutenant at the Boss Board in your FOB with DMZ Cash; it lasts one deployment. The Boss Board unlocks after your second DMZ Order.
- In the field, climb a Lieutenant Hunt tower and use the terminal at the top to reveal the general location of the nearest active Lieutenant. Damaged radio towers (a Side Op) do something similar.
- A kill pays DMZ XP and DMZ Cash, may drop the key to their personal loot room and always leaves a Dog Tag Case. Picking it up shows your position to every Operator on the Tac-Map, so plan a fast exfil. Extract with it to advance the Boss Board.
MW4 DMZ Lieutenants
Bale Lieutenant
A hardened Spetsnaz veteran working with North Korean forces as a combat trainer and enforcer, guarded by elite troops.
Where: Chang-san Air Base (official story); third-party coverage (CODMunity) puts him in the Tank Depot inside the Air Base Bunker · Chang-san Air Base guide
Drops: DMZ Cash, a Dog Tag Case (always), a rare chance at his iconic weapon and possibly the key to his locked loot room.
- His escort holds the approaches with disciplined fire; thin them out before you push the gates.
- Chang-san is Critical outside and Extreme in the bunker, so plan for reinforcements.
- Third-party coverage says the Chemical Denial Dynamic Op leads to him.
Gorani Lieutenant
A sniper in a natural ghillie suit wearing the skull of a Korean water deer, with camouflaged escorts that ambush from the brush.
Where: Overgrown farmland and deep forest; the official story finds him in the high woodland above Hanrim Village
Drops: DMZ Cash, a Dog Tag Case (always), a rare chance at his iconic weapon (he fights with an M4 in the official story) and possibly the key to his locked loot room.
- He evades normal tracking; read the terrain and look for tracks.
- Smoke helps, but he fires through it, so keep moving between bursts.
- In the official story the squad closes the distance and finishes him at close range.
Warden Lieutenant
A Lieutenant hunted through the northern hills in the official "Gone to the Dogs" story.
Where: The northern hills (official story)
Drops: In the official story his key opens a sealed door beneath NuriGO Mall holding a plate carrier recipe, rare components and a weapon manual.
- Long sightlines in the hills: a sniper rifle is how the official story ends the hunt.
- Keep his key: it is stamped with the room location.
- Robot dogs guard the tunnels to his room under NuriGO.
Jang-ui Lieutenantunconfirmed
Not described in the official guides read so far.
Where: An encampment in NuriGO Mall (third-party, from a story trailer) · NuriGO Mall guide
Drops: Not confirmed.
- Linked to Operation Shopping Hacks by third-party coverage.
Not named in the official Hajin or FOB guides; listed because players are searching for it.
MW4 DMZ Commanders
Commanders are roaming bosses that can show up almost anywhere in Hajin. They seem immune to many standard weapons and may need a specific approach. A Commander fight draws nearby enemies and rival squads, so control the area first and be ready to break contact. A kill pays big DMZ XP and DMZ Cash, drops high-value loot including prized 3D Printer Ingredients, and updates your Boss Board.
Colossus Commander
A seven-foot armored soldier carrying a belt-fed depleted-uranium Minigun.
Where: Roams; can appear in many places
Drops: High-value loot including prized 3D Printer Ingredients, large DMZ XP and DMZ Cash, and a Boss Board update.
- Standard weapons barely hurt him; bring explosives or armor-piercing options.
- Break line of sight when the Minigun spools up.
- His fight draws other squads, so watch your flanks.
Deathstalker Commander
A helicopter-sized combat drone with twin machine-gun turrets.
Where: Roams; can appear in many places
Drops: High-value loot including 3D Printer Ingredients, DMZ XP and DMZ Cash, and a Boss Board update.
- SAM sites help bring it down.
- Launchers and cover with a roof are your friends.
- Do not fight it in the open.
Main NK Battle Tank Commander
A North Korean main battle tank.
Where: Roams; can appear in many places
Drops: High-value loot including 3D Printer Ingredients, DMZ XP and DMZ Cash, and a Boss Board update.
- Launchers and explosives, from the side or rear.
- Use buildings to block its line of fire.
- Coordinate: one player draws fire while others flank.
Boss locations on the map
Lieutenant territories go on the MW4 DMZ map once confirmed in game. Until then, Bale is tied to Chang-san Air Base by the official story, and Warden’s key leads to a room under NuriGO Mall.
